Hi everyone, my name is Henrik Richter Schie (or Drix), and this is my first Substack post. I’m a writer of sorts, but most of all a music lover. I love listening to, finding, and exploring all kinds of music! This will be where I share with the world all the music, I think is not getting the attention it should, or has a story that can be told in a new way.
I also love reading about music in books, online, in magazines and so on, and this is where the name The feedback loop comes in, as I will share not only my own writing but also a lot of other great journalist’s work. Most of my music discovery usually starts with reading articles, posts, tips or exploring playlists/mixes made by others.
Beginnings are hard..
This is the default template headline here in Substack, but it’s also very true, and I have no idea how this will pan out in the end, but I would love for you to join me on my journey. I will write from my heart and link to others doing the same, post playlists made by me and others, do interviews, post links to DJ-mixes I enjoy, soon also host my own mix-podcast series, and much much more.
I also hope this will be a starting ground for connecting with likeminded people and get tips and shares back, again getting back to the name The feedback loop. I also love the sound of an amp feeding back on itself, or a synth filter that is self-oscillating, making sounds that are far beyond the original output.. so there is that as well.
So why, and why now?
New year, new beginnings?
I have thought about this for a while, and now during the holidays I have had time to read through a lot of other substacks, which gave me the final push. But this isn’t a new year’s resolution that I will break come February (I hope).
I find so much good music every day, more than I can even hope to have time to listen to. By starting this, I will possibly have even less time to just listen to music, but it will also force me to spend more time with the music I want to write about and share, so it’s an incentive for me to actually dig deeper into some of the music I find.
That’s it for now!
I’ll refrain myself for writing too much this first time, and hope this was enough to get you interest. It’s free, so why not join and see where this goes? I’ll tell more about myself and what I do in the future, but for now I will leave you with this video. You might have seen it before but it’s always worth re-watching! This is the late, great Angelo Badalamenti explaining how he and David Lynch made Laura Palmer’s theme for Twin Peaks. I love the way he talks, feels and is entranced with the music, even after all these years. Enjoy!
